It's that time of year again...

Art Space Portsmouth Open Studios Weekend 2012

Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th May, 1.30pm - 4.30pm daily

At the moment (in my office job) I am working on the preparation for the Art Space Portsmouth Open Studios weekend. There's a lot to do... however, hopefully the rewards will be very worthwhile. Last year we had a record number of visitors and we hope to build on the success of last year's event. So, if you fancy visiting us during the weekend please see all the information below... and yes I will be in my studio this year... STUDIO 11. I hope to see you there!

On the weekend of Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th May 2012, over 40 members of one of the UKs most respected and longest established artist studio groups will open their doors to the public for the annual ‘Open Studios Weekend’.

Art Space has managed studios for artists at the converted chapel on Brougham Road in Portsmouth for over 30 years. Each year we open the building to the public who are invited to meet the artists to see and hear about their work and buy directly from them.

Visitors will be invited into over thirty permanent artists’ studios and workshops and to view artworks on display in GASP (Gallery Art Space Portsmouth) exhibition space and around the building.

Late night in the studio...

After a late night in the studio followed by lovely fish & chips I feel rather contented. I must admit it may not be the most exciting way to spend a Saturday night... but it's not all bad! I started a large painting today, 200cm x 260cm (a diptych so I can move it around the studio) ... just a slight change of scale! It may take sometime to complete.

Very recently I visited London to see the Jeremy Deller and David Shrigley exhibitions at the Haywood Gallery followed by Phil Illingworth's exhibition 'Frightening Albert' at the new WW Gallery. All are well worth a visit and highly recommended by me! If I had more energy I would elaborate... but now I must go and relax, my sofa and some trashy catch-up telly beckons. I will leave you to explore the links above.
