May studio...

The Studio was tidied for Open Studios. Here are a few shots of the studio before I pack most of the artwork away and make it all messy again!

What's next?

Open Studios 2012
Over the last month or so a fair chunk of my Studio Coordinator's time for Art Space Portsmouth has involved preparing for our annual Open Studios event. Lots of our members and friends also put in many many volunteering hours to help make this event a success.

The Open Studios event took place this past weekend, and in the glorious sunshine (and the first hot weekend of the year) we still managed to attract over 300 visitors. This is on a par with our fantastic figures from last year.

People came from far and wide (one from as far as Australia!) as well as from down the road to enjoy meeting the artists, chatting about the artwork and enjoying refreshments in the ASP urban garden. I found it to be a really enjoyable event, and had some interesting feedback and discussions about my work.

So what's next?

As far as the studio is concerned I will be packing most of the finished work away once again. I am concentrating on a new body of work for exhibition. I am currently in the process of writing a proposal for a potential solo show and also in discussion with another artist for a potential two-person show.

I need to immediately sort out a canopy for my studio - as it is hot hot hot this time of year as the sun streams straight through the skylights. I have only had this studio since September - and it has only been the last four days or so that the reality of this problem has arisen. Although with the great British summer - I may not have to worry for too long!
